- The SA-055 was the successor to the equivalent-performance SA-05 which was sold primarily in the US at the time.
- The amplifier was only sold with other components as a complete system. This consisted of the SA-055 mixer amplifier, the PL-05 front-loading turntable, the TX-055 tuner, the CT-055W double cassette deck, the SG-05 graphic equaliser and the DT-32 digital timer.
