The banana plug is a connector invented by the Hirschmann company. The plug usually has a diameter of 4 mm, also common are banana plugs with 2 or 2.6 mm. Due to the diameter, the use of banana plugs for speaker connection to an amplifier is not permitted in Europe, as the plugs also fit into the usual Schuko sockets.
