Company profile[edit]

Fostex was founded in 1973 as a subsidiary of the Japanese company Foster Electronics Ltd. In the mid-1980s, Fostex took over the licenses and the range of high-quality loudspeaker chassis from the bankrupt Coral Audio Corporation, Japan. Today Foster is one of the largest developers and manufacturers of OEM loudspeakers in the world. Approximately 14 million loudspeakers are manufactured each month and a total of over 20,000 people are employed.

Fostex was founded with the aim of giving Foster's high-quality loudspeaker component division a name and approaching dealers and customers directly in the Japanese market. The brand quickly established itself and has since stood for speakers of the highest quality.

With products such as the T20RP headphones and the 6301 loudspeakers, Fostex became internationally known from the late 1970s onwards and quickly enjoyed great popularity in recording studios and the broadcast sector. After the first successful attempts in the studio sector with headphones, the company concentrated increasingly on this market from the beginning of the 1980s and quickly managed to become a sought-after manufacturer of tape machines, analogue and later also digital multitrack recorders as well as many helpful studio tools.

Today, the manufacturer's range includes a variety of headphones and headphone amplifiers for the studio and hi-fi scene, as well as various audio recorders, studio monitors, audio converters and speaker components.
