WESTRA Electronic GmbH was known in the hi-fi sector as a German manufacturer and importer of loudspeaker chassis from the Far East, which were used in many well-known designs (e.g. by Hans Deutsch).
Today: The successor company WESTRA Elektroakustik GmbH deals mainly with hearing aid technology. The business areas are:
- Audiological acoustics/medical technology
- Hearing consultation/hearing acoustics
Takeover of the loudspeaker division by HKM
In 1999 the former sales manager of WESTRA, Wolfgang Meindl, founded the company HKM HandelsKontorMeindl e.K.. HKM took over the loudspeaker division of WESTRA including the trademark rights.
