28.January 2009 / My sound impression:

'''Treble:'''

If you listen to this speaker for a longer period of time you will notice that the very high treble frequencies are quite unpleasant.

This was achieved by using a 10nF HT crossover with a resistor of 33 Ohm in parallel.

of 33 Ohm. For the upcoming CD era this was a fascinating new sound! I have eliminated this mode-related unpleasantness by bridging these components and connecting a 2.7 Ohm in series to the HT. Since then the highs are linear.

'''Bass:''''

You can always hear lows, but they are very imprecise. In the crossover a 0.47 Ohm resistor is connected in parallel to the two

TTs in parallel. This results in a less strong coupling of the TTs to the power amp, the cabinet volume can contribute better. (Reflections from the cabinet have a retroactive and time delayed effect on the TT diaphragm).

If a musician wants to reproduce the bass of a piece, he must be able to hear the pitch exactly. For this purpose it is recommended to bridge the 0.47 Ohm, which is connected in series to the two TTs. Then the sound is gone, but the basses are more precise and better locatable.

'''Result:'''

Now the box sounds even better than before, and that's saying something!

Also with the boxes applies: clean or sound, so correct or beautiful. Almost like in real life.
